To help restore your body's natural balance
Reflexology can be used safely throughout pregnancy for most women and two studies have shown that reflexology in pregnancy significantly reduced pain during labour (1), reduced the length of the first stage of labour (1), and improved quality of sleep in post-natal women (2).
I love supporting women throughout pregnancy, and beyond once you have had your baby. It’s an area I have experience in, a passion for and have completed additional qualifications in. Being a Mum of two boys myself, I know what a special time pregnancy is, but I also understand that there can be worries and discomfort as you go through your journey which reflexology may help to ease, regardless of whether you hope for a natural birth or are having a planned caesarean.
"My aim is for you to feel a sense of balance and peace about your imminent birth."
Maternity reflexology aims to optimise your physical and emotional health, and we will work through specific reflex points on your feet, or hands, to leave you feeling balanced and to help prepare your body, and mind for your birth.
In the early stages of pregnancy your reflexology treatment will be beneficial for relaxation, for reducing any stress and anxiety that may come with fear or worry about the emotional and physical changes you are going through. There can be early discomforts such as morning sickness and fatigue that we will aim to address.
As you move through the second and third trimesters, whilst many of the original discomforts may have gone as your baby grows you may begin to feel other physical symptoms which we will look to alleviate. Reflexology may help with issues such as sleep problems, breathlessness, fatigue, back ache, and your emotional wellbeing in preparation for your birth. My aim is for you to feel a sense of balance and peace about your imminent birth.
Your pregnancy and how you are feeling is a very individual thing. I am happy to begin working with you right from the beginning of your pregnancy or you can choose to see me later on in your pregnancy.
The best thing to do is to talk with me so that we can plan what feels right for you, so please feel free to arrange to come in and see me or call me on 01462 337543 for a chat before we book you in.
